WordPress 2.9 released

Sunday, December 20th, 2009
The coolest new stuff:

Global undo/”trash” feature, which means that if you accidentally delete a post or comment you can bring it back from the grave (i.e., the Trash). This also eliminates those annoying “are you sure” messages we used to have on every delete.

Built-in image editor allows you to crop, edit, rotate, flip, and scale your images to show them who’s boss. This is the first wave of our many planned media-handling improvements.

Batch plugin update and compatibility checking, which means you can update 10 plugins at once, versus having to do multiple clicks for each one, and we’re using the new compatibility data from the plugins directory to give you a better idea of whether your plugins are compatible with new releases of WordPress. This should take the fear and hassle out of upgrading.

Easier video embeds that allow you to just paste a URL on its own line and have it magically turn it into the proper embed code, with Oembed support for YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv (and more in the next release).

Help Saving MySQL!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

It is urgent and very important to act NOW. Oracle wants to buy SUN and MySQL is currently owned by SUN. This means that Oracle will buy MySQL too and most likely will stop its enhancing which currently makes Oracle loose money.

Please, read this post from the MySQL founder Michael “Monty” Widenius:

Download for free Camtasia Studio and SnagIt !

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Yes, there is no mistake :) The TechSmith’s best seller products can be downloaded and licenced for FREE!

Of course there is a little catch :) The free download is for the old versions of Camtasia and SnagIt. However they are both brilliant products and even the old version could do a lot of useful and quality work for you.

For those of you who are not familiar with TechSmith’s products:
  – Camtasia Studio is “the” software for creating full-motion movies of all your desktop activity (also known as screencasting).
  – SnagIt is for capturing a screen area and then enhance the capture with Annotations, Arrows, Titles, Borders, Watermarks.

Download Camtasia Studio 3 from HERE and get licence for it HERE.

Download SnagIt 7.2.5 from HERE and get licence for it HERE.

Hope you guys are as nicely surprised as I was :)

We are testing a new Ad system

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

As a free content website DaTutorials.com is depending on the ads income for maintaining and development. Since the start we are using Google Adsense for displaying text-based ads of websites relevant to the content of the page, where the AdSense ad was displayed.

We are fine with AdSense, but recently a new PPC program was introduced to the Ad marked: WidgetBucks.com  (aff).

I’ve decided to check it out (OK, I’m a very curious when earning money is involved ;) ).

So, I’ve signed up for account on WidgetBucks.com. The registration was easy and not only basic information was required, like name, email, website, and preferred payment type – Check or PayPal options were available. Also, upon signup, there is a $25 bonus added to the account :) I’ve already fall in love with WidgetBucks.com - my kind of PPC program ;)

OK, seriously, you get a free $25 bonus and you can withdraw you funds as soon as you reach $50. Very cool, but there is a little catch – you can withdraw 45 days after the date you reached the $50 level in your account. Fine with me, no problem waiting for the funds a month and a half.

So far, so good! You can choose from various ad formats – 160×600, 120×600, 300×250, 728×90, 468×60, 160×300, 660×330. You can also choose a color for the ad which will fit your website color scheme. The ad design is very cute and eye-catching. Check it at the right side of this blog or at the bottom of each blog post.

There s also a plenty of categories for the ads or if you prefer you can set the ads to be auto-selected by a WidgetBucks module called MerchSense (MerchSense Demo).

OK, enough of the general stuff. Let’s get to the more interesting aspect of WidgetBucks program – the price of a click. Well, so far we are very happy with the program, the lowest click price we have is $0.28 and the highest $0.56 and not a single click for $0.01 like we have from … “you-know-who” ;) Not bad for a PPC program :)

The only cons is that the payment process is still to be tested. Meanwhile I’ll keep you updated about how things are going on with our new ad program from WidgetBucks.

You can also sign up for an account and give it a try. We’ll be very happy to hear a feedback from other website owners.

Photoshop tutorials section updated

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

We manually checked all the links in the Photosop tutorials section of DaTutorials. Actually it was all acomplished by George, the other developer in our team. We regularly make a check and remove the broken links, so we keep our database clean and with good links.
