name Property


Sets or retrieves a value that indicates the window name.

Syntax

window.name [ = sName ]

Possible Values

sNameString that specifies or receives an arbitrary name used to identify the object.

The property is read/write. The property has no default value.

Expressions can be used in place of the preceding value(s), as of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5. For more information, see About Dynamic Properties.

Remarks

To access a window's name property, use the window keyword.

Examples

This example assigns the name property to the window object.

window.name="MyWindow";

example uses the window's open method to assign the name property.

window.open("file.htm","Frame1");
