Making the matrix code effect is much more simple than many people think.
Basically all you do is make one movie clip of a text box generating random
numbers, and making a new line after each one.
Then you insert these clips at different times into the movie, so that it appears
to be getting more busy.
So let's get to it. First thing you should do is set the background of your
movie to black. Then change the FPS to 20.
Now go Insert>New Symbol (Ctrl + F8). Name the clip text, and set it as a
movie clip.
In movie clip text make a text box and set its property to Dynamic Text. Now
set its height to what ever the height of your movie is.
Finally change its Var to lbl1. Basically what that does is tells flash to always
display the variable lbl1 in that text box. Now to add that
extra "matrix is" look to it we want to have the first number be lighter
than the rest. So copy and paste the text box, and change it's Var to
lbl2. Place it in the exact same location as the first one.
Now open up the actions
for the first frame. Type this in:
lbl2 = random(10)
What this does is it makes the lighter number that appears first random. This
way it's not all 1.
Now insert a second frame, and in its actions type this in:
lbl1 = random(10) + new line + lbl1
lbl2 = new line + lbl2
What this does is first of all adds a new line to the lighted number, so it
appears to be going down. Then it tells the other text box to generate a random
number
between 0 to 9 and then add a new line, so it appears to be going down.
Now insert a key frame on the 4th frame. In its actions type in:
gotoAndPlay(2)
This way it just keeps looping, instead of going to the first frame.
You're done! Now all you have to do is add in that movie
clip to your main movie, and it will do the rest. What I did was add a few clips
every few frames, so it appears to
be getting busier. That's it
