Tutorial goal:
This tutorial is meant for beginners and those who have never made their own brushes. For those of you who have a very good working knowledge of Photoshop please bear in mind that I have made this tutorial very detailed so that it is an easy guide for new users of Photoshop and for those that have never made their own brushes before. Where there are different options available to create the same outcome I have shown these.

step 1
CREATING A NEW FILE
Create a new file – there are two ways to do this:
You an either go to the top of your screen and click FILE, then from the drop down menu select NEW.
Or you can Press Ctrl + N and the new layer menu will appear on your screen as shown below

step 2
Now you will need to change the settings as shown step 1 illustration.
Once you have changed the settings, click OK.
Your screen should now look like the illustration below

step 3
Now you need to select the image you want to make into a brush, I chose jewels but you can choose any image.

step 4
CROPPING
You will now need to remove the background from the image so that you are left with a transparent background and just the image you want to become your new brush.
Again there are two ways to do this.
Probably the easiest way for new users of Photoshop is to use the REMOVE BACKGROUND ERASER TOOL

step 5
Or you can use the polygon lasso to trace around the edges and then cut and paste the image onto a new layer onto a new layer.
