Most photoshop ice text tutorials are written only for dark backgrounds, and look bad on light coloured backgrounds.This ice text tutorial was written specifically for lighter backgrounds.

  1. Start off by typing up the text in a very light blue colour on the default white background. Use big bold letters to get the best effect. Also make sure you typed in the correct text because you wont be able to change it later.
  2. Right click on the text layer and choose "Rasterize Layer".
  3. Then goto Filter>Pixellate>Pointillize, for the size choose a low number for the setting (I used 3, usually smaller the text smaller the number).
Select the Layer and from the layers Panel set the fill opacity to around 50% Then right click on the layer and choose Blending options.
After that use the satin, bevel and gradient overlay layer styles at the following settings.(links open in a popup window)

Duplicate the layer that the image is on by right clicking it and choosing Duplicate layer.

When you duplicated the old layer the layerstyles from the old layer were also copied, we dont want them so you can either delete them or turn off their visibility

On the new layer rightclick choose Blending Options>Gradient Overlay and use the following settings

Go to Edit>Transform>Rotate 90 degrees CCW, to rotate the image 90 degrees.
Goto Filter > Stylize > Wind. Make sure that the direction is set to 'From Left'. Once you are done rotate the image back to its original position.
