Replace Color Tutorial
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.
In this tutorial, I will show you how to use the Replace Color Adjustment Layer to change and edit parts of an image.
In this tutorial, we will be using an image taken from sxc.hu and the link to the image is located here: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/432314
You’ll go from this:

To this:

Step One
Open up the image that we are using for the tutorial. We want to duplicate the layer so that we can mask the layer later on, or if we make a mistake, we do not have to revert the image to the documents original state. To do this press CTRL+J on the P.C (MAC=Command+J.)

Step Two
Now that we have duplicated the layer, we now need to go in the Replace Color dialogue box. To do this go to Image>Adjustments>Replace Color and the dialogue box will pop up.

Step Three
You will notice that in the dialogue box there are quite a lot of options going on. For the first part of the tutorial, we just need to take note of the three sliders down at the bottom of the dialogue box. These are Hue, Saturation and Lightness. You will notice that next to the Hue Slider there is a box filled with color. That is the color we are going to change the color to in the tutorial.
