black and white > color

Simple tutorial to colorize black and white photos



step 1. Take any picture you want and desaturate it.


step 2. duplicate the layer

step 3. Use the wand tool and select and section (i'm using a house so lets say the grass for this example)

step 4. press Ctrl+U to get the Hue/saturation window up ..tick colorize and choose an appropriate colour.
should get something like this:


Step 5. Continue step 3+4 throughout image (you may need to alter threshold on the wand increase/decrease as applicable.

once you have completed the image u should get something like this



i did rush this image just to get some examples thats why some is still black and white but the concept is there for you all to progress on

cool effect. i have some sepia photos.

do you think if i change the colors to grey tone then i can achieve this efect?

yeh :P just goto edit/adjustments/desatureate i thinks it that? or if u goto the hue/saturation thingie just make sure u checked the colorize button.. that will make it the colour you want.. no matter what the color was before

yeh thats actually what i did on mine

go to google images and search for house ..the full color version is on the 1st page ..i just desaturated it and voila a lovely B&W pic
