Golden Text using Photoshop
In this Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to
turn any text into a golden text in easy to follow
steps. In the end, we will save all our work to a new
style so we could easily apply this to any layer -not
just text- to turn it into gold!
- Click File > New and choose the size that you
want for the image.
- Click "Set foreground color" and choose a light
gray (e5e5e5), click the "Paint Bucket Tool (G)" and
fill layer 1 then rename it to BG.
- Select the "Rectangular Marquee Tool (M)", Make a
rectangular selection a little smaller than the image,
press (Ctrl+C), (Ctrl+V) to make a new layer of the
selection and rename it to Marble.
- Select the Marble layer, click "Add layer mask"
located at the bottom of the layers window and choose
"Pattern Overlay".
- In the Layer Style window, choose "Light Marble"
pattern. If you cannot see the "Light Marble" pattern
then follow the red arrows to select "Rock Patterns".
- Click "Drop Shadow" in the Layers Style window.
Now, you should have the Marble ready for our golden
text.
- Click the "Horizontal Type Tool (T)", and type the
text that you like. Notice, it does not matter what
color you choose for the text as it will not appear.
- Select both the text and the Marble layers by
pressing the Shift key and clicking both of them in the
layers window, click the "Move Tool(V)" and center the
text layer by clicking "Align vertical centers" and
Align Horizontal centers" located at the top tool bar
of Photoshop.
- Select the text layer, click "Add a layer style"
> "Color Overlay". In the Layers Style window,
choose a yellow color (f8f025) as the overlay color.
- In the Layers Style window, click "Bevel and
Emboss", choose "Inner Bevel" then follow the settings
in the next print screen:
- Still does not look like a golden text? Do not
worry; we still have some work to do. Click the "Gloss
Contour" to open the "Contour Editor" then set the
mapping as the following image by clicking where you
want to make a new handler then dragging the line until
it looks like the following:
- You should see the golden text by now, to make it
look even better, click Contour under "Bevel and
Emboss" then click "Drop Shadow" and set the shadow
color to dark gray and follow the following image for
the other options:
- You can save all you have done as a new style by
clicking "Add a layer style" > "Blending Options"
then "New Style" and giving a name for your style for
example: Golden Style.
Golden Text:

Now, all you have to do is applying the Golden Style to
any layer by clicking Window > Styles and choosing the
Golden Style to convert anything to gold in one second!
