Touch of Pink effect adds a nice artsy look to your photo. It is basically a pink to transparent fill overlayed on a nicely contrasted desaturated picture. I will explain the procedure in 5 steps.
Before and after pictures:
Step 1. Desaturate
Open an image. It will probably be in color so we to get it in grayscale. To do that go to Image->Adjustments->Desaturate.
Step 2. Contrast
We want to get the most out of the picture and there are a few quick tricks to do that. One of them is Auto contrast. Go to Image->Adjustments->Auto Contrast and your picture should instantly look much better.
Step 3. New Layer
Ceate a new layer by clicking on a "create New Layer" icon in the Layers Window. This layer will be used for the gradient fill.
Step 4. Gradient Fill
Now select the Gradient tool, which is probably hidden under the Paint Bucket Tool, and pick a nice pink foreground color. Then go to the gratient settings and select the Foreground to Transparent option (See below)
Gradient Tool
Now you are ready to create the gradient fill. With your new layer selected draw a straight line from top to bottom of your image. You should get a nice pink to transparent gradient.
Step 5. Opacity
Now go to Layers window and click on the Normal which represent the default Normal blending option. You will get the whole list of blending options and from it choose Overlay. That will combine the gradient layer and the background picture to a stunning effect.
Here is the final result. I hope you find this tutorial interesting!
